Ever heard of VUCA? Yes VUCA, the term VUCA was first used in the military world in the era of the 90s to describe the battlefield situation faced by war troops, where information about the battlefield and opposing forces was very limited. Fighting in limited information seems to run in blindness and can cause chaos and defeat. This situation is termed the Fog Battlefield or Fog War. The term VUCA is used to describe current world conditions. VUCA stands for Volatolity Uncertainty Complexity and Ambiguity.
V is Volatolity, a condition in which the name changes very quickly. About 3 years ago I started to learn about the Internet of Things (IoT), not finished learning Iot came up again whose name is Artificial Intelligence, we must be curious as to what AI is, not finished learning the name Virtual Reality. Then another name, Bitcoin, just read, read about bitcoin, now it's called Cryptocurrency. That's Volatolity, which changes so fast, so does our smartphone that every year releases new variants and offers new, more sophisticated technology. Starting from the camera, the fast charger batteries to all its features

Next U (Uncertainty) or uncertainty. About 10 years ago the coal business was very promising, many people were rich because of this coal business. But since the government's policy to ban coal exports because they are only used domestically, after this condition the coal business has fallen. Lots of companies went bankrupt due to this government policy. There is no guarantee to have certain skills or certain knowledge will bring us to be successful, there is no guarantee of working in a state-owned company or a well-established company, even if you work in a company that is safe, there is no guarantee that higher education will be more successful than SMK graduates.
Next C is Complexity. I give an example when we will take a decision, the decision on how to increase sales usually the factors are increasing the number of customers; increase the amount of marketing; increase the number of branches in all provinces, but in this era of complexity the factors that influence sales are very complex such as online stores, social media, the number of resellers, the number of haters. There is news on television, do not use this product because it contains dangerous substances, suddenly your product does not sell. Complexity is also influenced by the large number of competitors, technological changes in consumption patterns, government regulations that are so complex and other changes.
Next A is ambiguity or ambiguous. I gave an example last year we successfully used the Canvasing / door to door strategy and this year we tried again using the same strategy in the same way, the results were different from last year. The next country is Greece, a small country on the continent of Europe whose name is a small country should have a small influence. But when it was finally declared bankrupt could not repay debt, many industrial countries in Europe were shaken because of this Greek State, why? because all countries are connected. That's ambiguous for not knowing what this is.
Then the question is how to deal with VUCA? what skills are needed? according to the 2016 World Economic Forum it was concluded that there were 10 skills needed to face this VUCA era. The first is complex problem solving, namely the ability of smart people to solve complex problems solving complex problems and solving problems that often have recurring problems, solving those that occur in the environment around us. The second is critical thinking, the ability to think critically, the ability to see the big picture in a problem and the root of the problem so that it can see the irregularities or things that don't make sense can be criticized. The third is creativity, the ability to create new things or new ways that are different from something that already exists. The fourth is people management's ability to manage moving people, the ability to coordinate with others with other departments to achieve common goals, achieve shared vision, achieve shared missions. The fifth is coordinating with other abilities to collaborate, discuss good organizational groups, the ability to convey ideas to convey ideas, have a positive attitude if our ideas or ideas are rejected by the organization. The sixth is emotional intelligence or emotional intelligence to manage oneself and others, able to interact positively with one another, able to respect the opinions of others, able to appreciate the name of difference. The seventh is Judgment and decision making the ability to judge and make decisions quickly and precisely, especially in conditions that are very fast in the form, conditions that are difficult to completely uncertain. The eighth is service orientation, the ability to be oriented towards providing the best service, providing services that exceed expectations, the ability to empathize with others. The ninth is negotiation, the ability to negotiate, the ability to convince others that what we are conveying is a win-win not a win-lose. And the last tenth is cognitive flexibility, the ability to easily adapt, easily adapt to new things.
That was the ten skills that are needed by smart people to face the VUCA era facing the 4th industrial revolution where these skills are not possessed by robots, cannot be replaced by machines. This skill must be trained continuously or continuously so that we can win in the VUCA era.
